My little baby girl is here! 41 weeks
We went in to our appointment on Thursday afternoon for an ultrasound to check on her and the amniotic fluid was low. So, the NP at my OB recommend that we go to the hospital to be induced and get the show on the road. I did not want to be induced, but was a bit worried about the low fluid. We talked induction options since I was 2cm and minimally effaced, as well as the baby being in a high position still. Well, we decided that we would start with a balloon catheter to help dialte me, use nipple stimulation and walking to help bring on the contractions, and if that didn't work we would try cervadil. Well, the ballon catheter took me to 4cm, and I was having mild contractions. So then I walked and did nipple stim to help things progress. Boy did they! I started having strong contractions while walking and then came back to the room to be hooked up for fetal monitoring. Well, then the contractions got strong quickly and I felt the urge to push. I told the nurse and she said there was no way I was ready to push but that she was calling the midwife to come back and check my dialation. What seemed like forever, trying to get through the contractions and not push, the midwife came. She checked me and to everyone's surprise I had dialated to 10cm from 4 cm in 2 hours! The nirses kept saying how shocked they were and surprised I was walking around like I was! It was time to push! My husband was amazing and helped me through it all. My doula was good too, but my husband was the true champ. I pushed on hands and knees as well as on my side and back. On my side/ back I was making the most progress, so we went with that when she was close. I pushed hard for less than an hour, using a mirror to look in so I could see her, and my girl was born! It's still a blur! It was amazing and hard, but totally do-able and worth it, even with my bad, interior, vaginal tear. All natural, like I wanted! God has blessed me in so many ways! I'm so in love!
