Anyone else suffering from sciatic pain after birth?

It has been 5 weeks since I gave birth and I thought the pain would go away on its on... but nights after nights it hurts so much when I lay flat on my back and deep in my buttocks. Its hard to even get up to assist my little guy because the pain sometimes hurts and causes my legs to wobble when I get up. Is this normal?

I had sciatic problems before pregnancy, during, and after. What has helped me is physical therapy. I got several exercises I do a day. When it's super bad I take 800mg of Advil. But for the most part hot compresses, showers , and stretching.  It took me several weeks for the swelling to go down pp.

During the last month of pregnancy my pain was so bad, I had the belly cradle, but I couldn't even lift my leg. I had to walk with a cane... I'm older than my husband by 5 years ... He called me a grannie and ran away .. I could t even run after him!

You may have gained a punched sciatic nerve, happened to me with my first baby. Nothing you can really do about it if it's the case. Hot baths and some hot rags will help the pressure. Every once in a while I'll use an icy hot patch. Gone to the doctor about it many times but come back with the same results. Maybe a trip to the chiropractor may help...hopefully your pain will go away and this isn't the case...just giving a little heads up with the pain I've had..preggo here again with baby #3 and sciatic nerve is acting up again. I feel like a walking penguin trying to warm up back muscles in the morning lol. Sacrifices us mothers make 😊

Its very very common for women to have back pains from their sciatic nerves continue after birth... its been almost 2 years since ive given birth to my daughter, and the pain hasnt gone away yet.. :(

Im 3months pp and my back feels ripped apart. I did all natural too. But I also havent been to a chiro for 4+ years. Try a chiropractor.

I had this with my son in the last 2 months of my pregnancy It was extremely painful!!! It did last a little while for me after his birth ide say 3 months 😔 but it did go away im hoping to skip that this time around!

I had an epideral/spinal headache the first few days home from the hospital. I don't remember sciatica pain.

It took a while for mine to go away. I think it was maybe 7/8 weeks. Try having a very hot bath with Epsom salt and see a chiropractor to see if they can release the pinched nerve but sometimes you just have to wait for the swelling to go down.
