Is it safe to get an Xray during pregnancy?

Question

For the past few days my left hip has been hurting so bad that I can't walk on it for long periods of time and it is completely random when it happens. Would it be safe to get an Xray of my hip?? 
I've already made a doctors appointment to get it looked at.

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant.

Def not!! I'm an X-ray tech. No way in hell I would xray you. If your were in a bad car accident I would have to weigh benefit vs risk. Risk in first trimester is fetal demise. Second trimester is childhood cancers. Third trimester is the lowest risk but even then, if you are able to walk it's not broken. It could be because your hips are moving and your ligaments relax that your feeling pain. Please don't ask for an X-ray.

Just tell the doctor that you're pregnant (they will ask anyway) and they'll know what to do with you to keep you safe, and get a good look at it as well. Trust your docs! 👍🏼😉

I would trust your doctor with this kind of stuff they will be able to give you an in depth risk and benefit list and also be able to tell you if they think you actually need an xray.

Depends on how far along you are, if you are high risk, etc.  I was told NO by both my IVF Doctor and regular OB.  Emergency only.

If you have to get an X-ray they will drape lead over you... But the hip is so close to the uterus... How far along are you? Could it be loosened ligaments and joints? Could you go to a chiropractor? I had really bad pain in my low back/butt/hip area with my first and I went to the chiropractor for an adjustment. It definitely helped!

X-rays are really discouraged during pregnancy unless trauma occurred. If u had a broken wrist or something ya maybe wrist or foot but hip is a no go.

No xray and no CAT scan!!! An MRI or ultrasound is much safer and can probably locate the cause just as well.

No they are not safe. My little one had to have x-rays done and they wouldn't even allow me in the room because I'm pregnant
