When to ask for epidural?

It's a difficult question as everyone's pain tolerance is different... I went to hospital and was told I was 6cm. I felt great and though I could do it natural. Very quickly the pain started coming in so strong and I got to a point and completely lost it!! I screamed for an epidural and luckily was able to have it straight away... The gas and air did not help... Good luck 💐

I missed the window.  They offered it at 6 and I denied.. I was screaming for it at 10 lol too late

I'm asking for mine hopefully at about 5 or 6. So I don't have to worry about it wearing off too soon hopefully!

At my birthing class, they suggested that you ask for it during active labor and before transition. It you want until transition, sometimes it can be too late as there are several things that have to happen before you get the epidural.

My goal is not to even get it....The only reason I will is if they recommend it to me cause maybe labor will be so long? Have to play it by year really at the time.

I tried natural first and only made it to 8cm with contractions a min apart before I asked for the epidural. A huge reason I did ask for it because he lady in the room beside was screaming her head off and my nurse said that's a natural birth in progress so I got freaked out! Haha it was a good choice though since I'd been in labour for two days and was exhausted so the epidural allowed me to rest a bit.
