Latching Issues... Especially after a Forcep Delivery

Andrea
Ladies, I know that there is no "one size fits all," but I do want to encourage anyone who has to feed extremeky frequently, absurd amounts of time, and/or has latching issues to see a lactation consultant who specifically specializes in ONLY lactation. They have a very holistic approach.
My newborn was born forcefully with forceps and, as it turns out, there are 3-4 reasons that he was not a good at latching and eating. (Body position in womb, developmental delay of male babies, tongue tie/lip tie, sluggish delay due to forcep trauma to jaw.)
My personal plan:
Until I was able to have his tongue tie physically fixed, I compensated by taking him to a specialized chiropractor for babies, giving him some breast time (for nutrients and bonding) followed by some formula from a bottle.
This way he got the best of breast milk, mommy bonding, enough calories to gain weight, BUT breast feeding no longer consumes my life.
The result:
He was/is able to sleep for 2 hr stretches during the day. I load/feed him as much as possible during the day, so that he could/can/will sleep anywhere from 3-6 hr chunks at night.
Hope this helps!
