6 mo & still not sitting up?

Question

Any mommies have babies that are 6 months old and still not sitting up without support?? My little girl is pretty chubby so my mother in law says that's why, but it just concerns me when I see other babies her age sitting up by themselves.

Every baby is different, my daughter is not sitting solo yet but she is close to crawling and that'll help them :) I also read that functional sitting really doesn't happen until 7-8 mos so we are just fine!

I can let go of my son for a second or 2 but he's both heavy (20 lbs, 27.25") and super fidgety, and he usually tries to lean forward immediately and grab whatever is in front of him making him overbalance

Mine is 5.5 months and not sitting up yet. He wants to but he isn't.
