I'm only asking because..

I'm only asking because my first child wasn't planned.. we would like to plan another baby but it can be hard because my periods are irregular. Should we try a couple of days before my fertile window.? We had sex 3 times during my last fertile window but my period still showed up. Any advice/opinions?
