Is a membrane sweep safe?

I've always been a hands off during pregnancy.  I've not allowed much testing or checks. This is my 3rd pregnancy,  and I've had 2 c sections. They can not induce my if I go over my date, but they can start sweeps at 39 weeks. I'm considering it to help avoid a c section, but don't want to allow it if it can harm baby. THANK YOU.

There is a slightly increased risk of infection, but that's true of cervical checks and all that too. Overall, it's safe

Def safe or dr wouldn't do them, had one done with my 2nd pregnancy and had baby 6hrs later

I had that done and a few days later went into labor but found out I had an infection so I was rushed into surgery for a c section. I'm not positive what caused it, if it was the sweep or not, but there is always that risk of infection.
