Scary visit with perinatalogist

Brittany • Mommy to one sweet girl, expecting another precious girl in September
At our US last week, the sonographer noted that our baby had a prominent stomach and my amniotic fluid was measuring at 29, which is the high end of normal. Our doc referred us to a perinatalogist to take a closer look, and we had our visit today. Turns out our baby most likely has duodenal atresia... basically a narrowing at the start of her small intestine that makes it hard for her to process the amniotic fluid she swallows. She'll need surgery to correct it within the first 48 hrs of life, and will most like we in the nicu for 3+ weeks. I'm so scared and sad and nervous that she could have other birth defects, as this is a strong marker for downs, although the perinatalogist didn't see any other markers today. Please pray for my baby and for me to stay strong in the weeks to follow
