When to ask?

With my first I never asked to have skin to skin contact RIGHT after my daughter was born.. And she ended up having her cord wrapped around her neck and was silent when she came out.. So they took her to a table right away.

But with this one I really want skin to skin contact right after she is born. (As long as there is no complications) 
So my question is, when do I ask the nurses for that? Do I say something when I get to the hospital? Before I start pushing? I feel like if I say something when I get there.. There could be change in nurses or they could forget by the time I start pushing.

I think skin to skin is the standard of care in most hospitals nowadays. Ask your doctor. I was going to put it in a birth plan but everything I really wanted (skin to skin, delayed cord clamping, etc) is already the standard protocol at the hospital I'm delivering at.

I'd you have a birth plan put it in there. Also talk to doctor about it. I didn't do it with either of my boys but plan on doing it with baby girl. She is my third and final baby. I was 18 with my first and didn't really know that was an option. Best of luck to you.

My hospital does it right away. The only thing I have to tell them if I want, is that I want everything done while shes on my and not have her taken to the table

You talk to your doctor now so they know your wishes and you let everyone who is with you at the birth
