I don't want a baby shower?

Hi ladies, I don't exactly want a baby shower but everyone thinks I'm crazy as this Bub is my first and I would be missing out on gifts that would naturally be a big help to a first time mum. 
Truth is, i have severe anxiety as it is and its worse now that I'm pregnant. I don't want a baby shower but maybe when baby is here, I may have a BaByQ and if people would like to bring gifts, they're more than welcome to.

I just feel awkward as can be at baby showers and as much the attention and gifts may be nice, it's really not for me. Anyone else in this position?

Hey girl! I have the worst anxiety ever, didn't have one and don't regret it at all.
I like being able to say that my partner and I have gotten everything for ourselves.

But my bestfriend had one, she also has very bad anxiety and is still using things and our babies are 8 months.

I didn't have a set time for a shower. We did a floating shower where people could come whenever they wanted and leave when they wanted so it wasn't crazy. People came throughout the day but I didn't have to feel uncomfortable at the same time.

We don't really have them here in the Uk but it would be my worst nightmare anxiety wise. I hate my birthdays and Christmas opening gifts and it feels like this would be worse! At work they've just done one for someone else who is pregnant and I think I might have to say please don't do one for me!

Yh I don't think I'm having a shower either I'm 14 weeks and haven't accounced only family and close friends know I'm not telling anyone else till baby comes

My only concern with the baby-q is people wanting to touch baby. I'm not a germaphobe but idk; a bunch of hands all over the baby..? No thanks. And some people think it's okay to just kiss all over baby's face and mouth.

If you aren't up to a shower that's your right. I personally am glad I'm having two. I hope people get a lot of the stuff we register for. I'm a FTM, too. We simply can't afford it all.

A baby-q is a cute idea after baby comes or you could do a very small scaled "sprinkle" before hand with closest friends/family more like a celebration lunch or dinner instead of a big party.

Yes I am! I'm having a boy first baby and I have been shopping a little at a time throughout my pregnancy. I know the diapers and everything would be a great help but I am not in the mood of having one. We had a gender reveal party and it was nice. I think what bothers me the most though is more than half my family didn't even show to that and that kinda made me not want a shower because they haven't been as supportive as expected. However, I am glad that my husbands relatives has shown excitement.

I'm just the same. At the open house for our wedding, my husband had to come find me having a panic attack in another room. Haha.
When I first got pregnant, my husband and I lived in a different state than both our families for school, so my mom and mother-in-law had me make registries online at Target and Walmart, and they posted the links on Facebook. I didn't expect much from it, but if you want, you could try that in the hope of getting at least a few gifts.
