am I being unreasonable?

I always tell my SO not to mute his phone when he sleeps and he says he won't but continues to do it. And this drives me crazy cause I can't reach him when I need to (when I'm sick or when he is. He gets sick constantly, life threatening). Am I being unreasonable?

There is a setting on iPhones do not disturb where it won't ring unless you call 3 times in 10 mins. That's what my husband does so I can still get ahold of him in an emergency. Just don't abuse it though!

I have my phone on do not disturb but I have a list of favorite people that can still call/message me.  The people not on that list go to VM or the message that comes in is silent.  It's nice!

I always mute my phone when Im sleeping. I don't sleep good already and hate being waken up when I do.

If he is truly life threatening then I'm surprised he is so lax. But I mute mine, always have. There's never in my life been a need to call. However you can usually set phones to mute everything except phone calls, ask him yo use that setting, it'll mute everything else. But the first time you abuse it is the last time the privilege is there.
