No Ultrasound until 20 weeks?

Question

I just left my 7wk 2 day appointment and I asked my dr when I would have an ultrasound to see something and she told me I wouldn't have an ultrasound until I was about 20 weeks. That's sounds odd to me but I was wondering if that's normal or if I should look for another doctors opinion

Call an ultrasound school near you. Go get an ultrasound for free. When I was a student, we always appreciated pregnant women coming in for us to practice.

Had it not been medically needed I would have had only the 20 week scan. It depends on your pregnancy needs and the doctor. One scan can be normal if there are no complications. If you want another one you could always go have one. I think they start at $60ish out of pocket. We started to do this but I needed to have more than one anyway so we didn't.

Thats what is happening to me but only had it when i was 6weeks 5 days im 17 weeks and have no idea what baby looks like at this point lol   Bumper i have to wait till 20 weeks. For anatomy scan thing

Most insurance companies only cover 2-3 scans, unless you're considered high risk or having multiples. 
You have have more, but you pay for them out of pocket.

I'm shocked. Usually they do an US at your first appointment for dating purposes. I'd contact another OB.

The first one I did was "proof of pregnancy" when I first found out at 5 weeks, then again I had one at 9 weeks to check baby cause I was worried (lots of unknown pain in my stomach, plus I've had a recent miscarriage before this) then again he did one at 14 weeks? I don't know why to be honest. Then I had the one at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan. I don't think I'll be having any more.. Till maybe the end idk?
Except my 4d one that I'm doing out of my own pocket.

I have mine scheduled for when I'm about 8 weeks. Thatsthe standard where I live. Generally every pregnancy has two. The dating one at 8 weeks and the anatomy one between 16 and 20 weeks.

Yes some only do 1-2 ultrasounds....  Usually at 12 weeks they will find he heartbeat with a Doppler and if they can't they might do one then
