What came first: water broke or contractions?

What made you go to the hospital to delivery baby...your water breaking or you started having contractions?

My contractions were chemically induced and my waters were broken for me once I was dilated enough. I was 16 days overdue by the time I had my little girl though!

I had contractions for over 24 hours but then they stopped almost completely for a few hours and then my water broke unexpectedly, contractions started back up inconsistently about an hour after.

Contractions usually cause water to break. And you can't always feel them.
