Anyone understand a diva cup?

I know that they are like plugs, but when you take them out do you have to do it in the shower?  I use the disposable virsion (SoftCups) and they work wonders. But how messy is a diva cups?

I use a Lunette cup and it's not messy at all... you empty it above the toilet so if you spill it gets into the toilet. Shower is also an option, but I prefer not to because the water washes away the natural lubrication of your vagina so it's pretty uncomfortable to insert

I tried the disposable ones and I don't know if I was doing it wrong or what but they were SO much messier than the regular cups. 
I usually just dump mine in the toilet, give it a rinse in the sink, and I'm good to go.

The first couple times you may want to do it in the shower because it can be messy before you're used to it, but you can also empty it in the toilet and rinse it in the sink. If you're already used to a cup it should be fine, but there was definitely a learning curve for me! I've been using it over 6 years now and usually change it once a day in the shower and once with the toilet/sink
