36 weeks and pumped this today!! Now I'm not sure bkuz I am a FTM but I think this is just colostrum. Can't I freeze this for my baby?? Due for induction in 19 days!!

Colostrum isn't see-through usually. I don't think I'd save it personally. When baby latches on, their saliva will trigger your colostrum, and eventually your full let down. Our boobs are amazing! Say a 4 month old gets sick, and is breast fed. Babies saliva tells the breast to make more colostrum (which is antibody rich!) to help fight off the sickness! It's absolutely nuts. But yeah I don't think I'd store it personally :) you can I'm sure baby can drink it

You shouldn't be pumping yet. That doesn't look like colostrum it looks too runny to me

I don't see how your engorged if you don't even make milk until your placenta comes loose?  Not judging just don't understand

Any reason why you're pumping at 36 weeks? When the placenta detaches it tells the body to produce milk... Really confused why you're doing this?

Do not pump your baby needs that and no I wouldn't freeze that. I'd stop pumping and wait for baby to do it for you once your real milk supply comes in then pump if you would lime

That looks like the "precum" of colostrum (as my husband and I call it. It should be a lot less transparent, more like thick yellow milk. My dr told me to start saving mine and pumping at 38 weeks so I can have a stock pile in case the baby needs to supplement, so we don't have to use formula. Also, my friend (who's a lactation specialist) said its good to keep in case the baby is sick later on, cause it is full of antibodies that can help the baby fight off colds/other illness. I would toss that batch and wait to save it until it comes out thicker.

Why would you pump if you're still pregnant?

It's not recommended to breastfeed before you have your baby, it can lead to preterm labor. When you breastfeed your body releases oxytocin which is what causes contractions. So just be careful!

If you pump while pregnant you can go into preterm labor. 
When your baby is born your body will start producing milk and depending on how much you breastfeed will determine how much you your body will make. 
I wouldn't save that either.

I'm colostrum harvesting. Can do it from 36 weeks. I've been told to do it as I have gestational diabetes. Only tried a couple of times so far but no luck yet. Will try again tomorrow :)
Welldone! That doesn't look like colostrum, as I believe it's yellow, but but best to check with your midwife x
