When to get ready? FRUSTRATED WITH SO!

Question

When did everyone start prepping for baby, clothes, crib, stroller etc. We didn't find out until I was 13 weeks pregnant well now I'm almost 22 weeks and have nothing and am freaking out! This is our first baby and honestly I'm nervous because my SO really knows NOTHING about babies and he thinks the preparation is going to take like a day or two. SO WRONG! We just got a new house and he's more focused on getting the rest of the house together

I didn't buy anything until the third trimester.

Is there someone else you can do baby shopping with that would enjoy it more,  like the baby's grandparents?  You still have time,  but I completely understand wanting to feel like you're not waiting till the last minute.  Plus in your third tri you'll be less mobile,  way more tired and having to do EVERYTHING for the baby then will be overwhelming.  Try explaining to him that it's eating at you,  causing you stress and anxiety because of a phenomenon during pregnancy called nesting.  You are biologically driven to get ready for baby.

I personally was extremely depressed and moody until we finally got our furniture moved around and I was able to set up and organize clothes etc.  Now I feel great.  We still don't have everything but I don't feel like I'm under water any more.  Not sure how long the relief will last,  but I think now my BF sees how much it was affecting me,  because he's been extra sweet and extra helpful around the house.

Plus,  now that we have a changing table set up in our room etc,  I think it makes it even more real for him that our daughter will be here in 2.5 short months and he is more excited than ever.  The other night he got all cuddled up to my belly and was whispering to her.....  He's never done that before.  It was so sweet I was smiling like a fool the whole time!

We started after we found out the gender. We bought mostly 2nd hand so now at 27 weeks we are set and nursery is already set up.

I started buying stuff as soon as I found out. This is my second child but it's been 10 years, so really I'm starting out all over again. I have no issue buying gently used items and have saved a ton of money so far. I have car seats, a stroller, a couple of pack and plays, a swing, clothes from newborn to 12 mo, bottles, diapers, wipes, a breast pump and all sorts of breast feeding accessories. I'm 26 weeks and pretty much all set

I'm 37 weeks and I still have lots of stuff to buy. Chill out. You have months to shop, unless you mean saving money for all the baby stuff. In that case start saving now!

We started with my first around 20 weeks but with this one since we found out it was a girl we started right away diapers, wipes, boumcer, swing I normally shop when there's a lot of clearance and Walmart is having a huge one so we've been going crazy and of course we still buy for my first when we shop for our second❤

Don't worry. It will all come together. I have two months left and still have nothing set up. I even won't have the crib for a couple more weeks. Actually the only thing I really have as of now is a baby swing. My SO is like that too. He hasn't helped with anything and is more focused on everything else. Thankful for his mom tho. She's helped me paint, buy decorations, replace carpet, fix the closet and all that good stuff. We just pass it off as he's nervous to be a daddy so he distracts himself 😉

The first thing we got was his furniture and that was when I was 14 weeks. We started with the clothes after I knew the gender at 17 weeks. It is all up to you guys when you start. Some moms wait until later around their mid 30s to start and some wait until after baby gets here because they believe it is bad luck to prepare beforehand. I like to get everything done in my 2nd trimester since the 3rd trimester I have no energy and what not. It is just harder to get around and motivated then.

With my first I bought everything right away. Mainly because I knew her dad wasn't going to be a part of her life. But I also found out that at baby showers you get a lot of stuff as well. More and more baby clothes. You will have so much new born clothes it is crazy and your baby probably won't even get to where half of them. So if you want to buy clothes get clothes that are bigger sizes 3-6 months 6 months etc. with this baby I already had all the clothes and literally would only buy an outfit here or there. We waited until the baby shower to see what all else we would need. Now I have to wait until he returns home to go get the rest of our baby boys stuff.
