Advantages of getting the epidural?

What are the advantages of getting the epidural apart from of course not feeling the pain?

Um nothing lol that's the point of getting it no pain

I progressed super fast after I got one. I was stuck at like 4cm when I got one and then I took a 2 hour nap and when I woke up I was ready to push lol. Same with my son. I was in pain and couldn't relax so I got one and only 20min after they got done with my epidural I was ready to push.

Other than not feeling the pain I can't think of any advantage. I had 2 with an epi and one without. My recover with the one without was a small fraction of the time of the last one I an with an epi because I got a spinal headache from my last epi that lasted for a month

I disagree on not feeling the pain. It doesn't work completely for some. With my first, it only did half but I had a quicker labor. With my second, it literally fucked me up. At my 6 week checkup, I was still basically teaching myself to walk again let alone step up or down on anything without falling. Oh that's normal they said 😑 3 years later with a horrid lower back pain that can't be relieved and leg problems occasionally.
