Cot bumpers yay or nay?

What's everyone's opinions on cot bumpers? Some people saying yes and others saying no??

Alternative to bumpers. Still open but padded.

A breathable bumper is okay. The plush ones can be dangerous if baby snuggles up to it, when they are newborn they can squirm to the edge but they developmentally don't have the ability to startle themselves awake if they cannot get enough air and can suffocate in their sleep. I have a mesh one and its not as cute as the plush ones, but it's breathable and keeps them from sticking their arms and legs outside the crib.

I put one up when the baby was a little bigger but with my second baby I'm getting a breathable bumper  . I have to have a bumper up otherwise my girl sticks her feet through the rails and gets stuck
