When to tell my parents?

So today I am 4 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Today is also my Dads birthday. My husband wants to tell just my parents today, since its my dads birthday and this is their first grandchild. Also, because he feels as if incase I start to not feel well, or we need an extra hand, their around to help. I wanted to wait until their anniversary to tell them, but then i'll be almost 10 weeks. My husband thinks they'll be sad to know we waited so long- we're a very close family. I'm just a worrier and I worry if something goes wrong. Any opinions are helpful! Thank you!

PS- My husbands entire family lives in Europe, we're in the US- so we only have my family around for help.

If you are that close wouldn't you want their support and love if something went wrong? I would tell them. Sounds like they are and would be a good support system for you. I always tell my mom when I find out. I know I would want her by my side if anything happened. It is up to you though.

If you feel ready to tell them, tell them today! Why wait? We told my SO's parents a few days after we found out, a bit after 4 weeks. His parents live near us while my family lives in the US. I wanted to wait to tell everyone, including his parents, but he was so excited & "accidentally" spilled the beans. It's been wonderful to have their support & help (we recently moved here so they have helped us find a doctor, bring me food, and just all around be supportive). I'm 10 weeks now and can't imagine them just finding out now! I'm sure your parents will be over the moon to be on this journey so early with you, and God forbid something go wrong, you will have them as a support system.

I told my parents when I found out at about 5 weeks. Told other family members (siblings) at around 12 weeks and then extended family (through son wearing a keep calm I'm going to be a big brother tee on Mother's Day) at around 15 weeks

I chose your dad's birthday because I have a motormouth and can't keep a secret, but you should do whatever makes you and your partner comfortable.

I chose your dads birthday because you may need help if you are not feeling well. Speaking from experience, there is no way we would have been able to make it but I was horribly sick. But you never know, you could be completely healthy and not need the help.

If you want your mom to feel included too, maybe give them both a gift after celebrating your dads special day.

I'm less than you and really close to mine and had to tell them. They know we were struggling so when I told them and they were so so happy I'm glad we didn't Wait :-)

I voted for their anniverary. Usually the standard wait to tell people is 12w, just in case something happens in the first trimester. However, close family is an exception. I don't think they'd be upset if you waited a little longer, but it's whatever you want to do! Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy!
