Anyone pre-registered for hospital? Or did a maternity tour?

Anyone pre-registered for hospital or do a maternity tour? Is it mandatory to do registration and tour?? I asked my doctor she said to register just In case they don't have information in the computer @ the hospital you will be admitted to. One of my co-worker told me you don't have to do a tour if you're being induced or having a c-sec or something. I am not sure what I have to do. I did pre-register like a month a ago but never have called in for a room tour. My doctor haven't told me I would be induced or having a surgery.  I'm close to 36 weeks.. What happens if I don't do a tour...

I pre-registered about a month ago. I was also supposed to do a maternity unit tour a couple weeks ago, but it had to be rescheduled to the end of September because the hospital I'm delivering at had 3 bats caught in the Ob unit in a 2 week period and one tested positive for rabies!

My insurance also told me to pre register bc they charge a fee if you do not.

Yes I have pre registered since 28 weeks and also just had hospital tour at 30weeks. I'm all set.  I also registered at 2 hospitals as I'm undecided which I like better. Lol. Will see what happens.

Our hospital didn't do pre registering, but is a small hospital so I'm not told concerned.  should be quick and easy.  We did do a tour and glad we did, I like knowing what it looks like and where to go!

Definitely prefer register, it'll save you from having to do all the paperwork when you go in due to being in labor! You probably won't want to be dealing with paperwork mid contraction. Lol. As for the tour, I did mine but it's not necessary.

You don't have to do the tour at all if you don't want BUT they are helpful! It's a nice chance to see where you'll be going, what the delivery room and then the recovery room looks like. They give you a nice run down of what the hospital offers in terms of amenities (shampoo, soap, diapers, clothes) where you can get food, they give you a suggestion on what to bring to make yourself comfortable, you'll meet a few delivery nurses etc. I thought it was helpful and made me more comfortable knowing where to go and who to call (especially since it's a little different after hours at my hospital) also the tour really only took 15-20 min and I did it right after one of my OB appointments. 
I also pre registered b/c that's not something I want to deal with and be held up by when the baby is on his way!
