Good Mystery/Suspense books?

I got put on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy (im 25 weeks) so ive decided to get some books.

Anyone know any good mystery/suspense/horror books?

Richard Laymond is fantastic but he's really dark and gory. I'm talking about lot of murder and rape and stuff... I'm not much of suspense novels but if you're looking for murder mystery and stuff then he's awesome!

James Patterson is as well, but no the Alex Cross series. I find them super predictable but that's just me.
