Definitely! I went for my 39w check up, Turned out I was 8cm dilated! I had to go straight to hospital. Didn't have a single contraction that I felt until my waters were broken, then the pain hit and I had to push..my boy was in my arms 20 mins later. My mum and nan are exactly the same with labour

I think you have to have contractions. But with my first when I got to the hospital for bleeding I found out I was 6cm. They hooked me up and I was having contractions. I couldn't feel them at all. So it's possible for you not to realize you are having them.

With my daughter I was dilated to 6 cms right from 36 weeks to 40 weeks when she finally arrived. My family were wondering how she didn't just fall out!  Lmao

I was between 3 and 4 cm when I was induced and had never had one contraction until they broke my water
