Natural or Epidural?

Question

Although I am only 14 weeks pregnant I am still contemplating having a natural birth or an epidural! I hear that you feel a lot better after delivery of you go natural.  Any thoughts?

I'm going epidural. Unless they're giving out a super mom trophy for going natural no need for me to feel all that. A breathing healthy bay is ok with me. They save "oh you'll have back pains afterwards" well you could also die in labor nobody stops having kids though. Btw I have no back pains or issues and I got one with my first son 7 years ago

I have never gave birth besides a missed miscarriage. But, I am so scared of the numbing stuff at the dentist. I can't deal with not being able to feel things. So, I can honestly say, unless I'm expiercing so much pain that I might die, I'm going natural. Just too big of a fear to me. 😖😖

I want to know what it feels like for my body and baby to work together. IMO natural. Birth is a right of passage I don't want to numb. Plus the effect an epidural has on a baby. I wouldn't want an epidural causing babies heart rate to drop so they can rush me into an "emergency" C Section....

If you choose to go without an epi be sure the nurses and Dr will be good support and help you through painful contractions. Let them know you know your options and if you feel you need an epi or any other pain management you'll ask for it. Now for when they aren't in the room make sure those in there are good support. Find simple massage techniques that help relieve pain, someone to walk or even dance with to help move things along. If you can and want to hire a doula. That right there will be a huge support system and fill in any gaps. Our bodies are amazing and were built for giving life. No matter what your decision is you have options and will do what's best for you and your baby.

I say try for natural but keep an open mind. I see a lot of women who end up devastated because they plan one way or another, and their birth ends up being different than they pictured. It'll be fine either way :) personally I planned a natural birth, but I never predicted id be in back labor for 30+ hours with no end in sight.. At that point I had to opt for an epidural, because I knew if it lasted another 12 hours I could never push that baby out. (Ended up w a happy healthy baby- and it ended up wearing off at the end anyways so I got my natural birth lol. Got the rest I needed though!)
