and the doctor said I'd go up to 42 weeks!

Rachel
Long story short, I had a really healthy, east pregnancy until week 38, when I developed high BP and signs of pre eclampsia. The doctor at my 39 week appt did an ultrasound "to be on the safe side" and noticed there was almost no amniotic fluid. Between the swelling, BP and fluid issue, she sent me to labor and delivery.
I get to the hospital and they gave me cervidal for 12 hours. It caused some contractions, my BP was relatively high, and baby's heartbeat was so high..160-170. The next morning, they started pitocin even though my cervix was still shut. Ouch! More painful contractions. Still, nothing. Day 2 around 11pm, they have an insert similar to cervidal. Extremely painful but not dilating.
Day 3 I wake up to find my favorite nurse is assigned to me AND my doctor! I was beyond relieved and ecstatic that my doctor was there. He was on vacation until this point and I've always been told I wouldn't get my doctor on the big day. He suggested sending me home since the 3 treatments failed. I said absolutely not. First off, you can't put someone through that physical pain and be like "oh well." Second, you can't do that to someone emotionally! I demanded a c section and he agreed.
About one hour before the C, my water broke. It hurt SO incredibly bad. There wasn't even much fluid, but it was he worst pain I've ever felt. I was shaking and crying until the epidural. Then I continued to just cry until my c section. Seeing my dr there really kept me calm. My husband held my hand the entire time. I'll never forget the look on his face when he stood up to look over the blanket and watch them pull out our daughter. And when I heard her cry, I totally lost it.
Recovery was kind of dehumanizing but I guess we all go through it. The nurses helped me toilet and shower, lactation consultants had their hands all over my breasts during feeding lessons. They were all wonderful, respectful, and incredibly helpful. But baby is here and we even got to go home a day early!
