Exercise in Pregnancy
Hi All,
This is my first post but after receiving such varied responce from medical practitioners, I thought I would ask other mums for their experiences. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and exercise for 30-60 minutes, 5-6 days per week. This is something that I did prior to getting pregnant, however, I was not fit in my previous 2 pregnancies.
Here is some of the contrasting info:
• I have been told to get BPM to 140 by some, then do the talk test which my heart rate sits at 150-160 by others.
• I have been told that exercising on an empty stomach would be fine if thats what I have done previously, in contrast, to never exercise on an empty stomach in pregnancy.
• I have also been told that I can continue my exact exercise program through pregnancy if I can maintain it, In contrast, to reduce weights so that I can not feel pressure on my pelvic floor.
• To replace the calories that I burn with food etc, in contrast to not worry about it. (I consume around 1900-2000 calories a day and burn around 300 in exercise. I also eat only clean healthy diet)
It maybe that the precautions of exercise in pregnancy may just be that. A rough guide. However, I do not want to have an adverse effect on the babies growth. I am interested to hear the experiences of other mums who also participate in a like exercise program.
