I am plus size and want to TTC (size 16). What do you think I should do?

My mother has been unsupportive saying I should not have a baby because I'm too fat :( what do you think?

While being overweight isn't healthy for many reasons, there are also many reasons to be overweight! I suggest beginning a diet/exercise routine that you can handle long-term. Do that for 30 days, and then start trying. That was you can continue working out for the duration of your pregnancy (because you're only allowed the same activity level you had pre-pregnancy). Establish healthy routines and go for it!

I am size 14/16, 5'4" & 197lbs prepregnancy, I got pregnant after 4 months of trying, I'll be 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow & baby girl & r doing great. I've gained around 12lbs so far, my docs r not concerned about my weight at all. I have an auto immune disease & I made sure that was under good control, I walk, do yoga, water aerobics, & hike 4 excercise & try to eat a balanced diet. Tell your mom to shut her face (in your head :) & start trying for your baby!

I'm about the same size. I regret not trying to lose weight so I could be at a healthier weight when we decided to TTC but my goal now is to try to make healthier choices so I don't get out of control when I am pregnant. As long as you're healthy don't worry about what others say!

I was a size 22-24 when I had my first 3 children and perfect healthy pregnancies.my fourth a size 16 and I was quite unwell and classed as high risk,currently pregnant again.

You can't focus on what others tell you. Women of many sizes get pregnant daily. The only reason to consider it is if it would pose danger throughout the pregnancy for either you or the baby. Also it may be a bit more difficult to get the post baby weight off. Those are the things you want to consider most. And you never know, you may start losing and get pregnant during that period. Also see what your doctor says. That is an opinion you may want to consider. Staying on shape does help with many things but if you start trying to lose weight let the reason be because it is something you want/need to do.

As long as you are healthy, your baby will be too. I'm a size 18 and everyone was conviced I would be a high risk pregnancy. Guess what, i am in perfect health and I am a low risk pregnancy and my baby is in perfect health too.
