any opinions on water birth?

I'm thinking about having a water birth. I just think it's a more relaxed & less forceful way of delivering. Does anyone have experience with this?

I would love to but considering all the complications my family seems to go through delivering baby I'm afraid not to go with a hospital in case of emergency and I end up the same way as everyone else :-(

Ive never had one (my mom did but had us all at home) but my hospital (Kaiser) doesn't offer it. My doctor said birth centers do them but not usually at hospitals because if there's an emergency it's harder for the doctor to get up in there to help. I would love to have one still but can't afford a birth center or home birth, I do get to shower in warm water for pain relief 😁

I wish I could have done it this time. We have a midwife in town that does them in home. But my husband thought it was weird and gross to have a baby in our living room. Salt Lake City has a nothing tub in one of their hospitals. At one point our OB's weren't taking any new patients so we would have had to go out of town. I would have chose to go there but driving 3 1/2 hours away is a bit rough when you are in labor. Luckily we got a new OB and I will deliver in our hospital a normal birth.

I've been wanting to do it my last two pregnancies however my labor and delivery was 2.5-3 hours wasn't enough time to fill the tub up by the time I made it to the birthing center. This time in having a home birth and the pool is all set. We will fill it the first sign of regular and consistent contractions. I'm completely excited. I even relax in the pool when the pressure and aches become too much.
