Has anyone ever done placenta encapsulation? What are your experiences of it?

I asked my midwife her opinion on it. She said the placenta is an organ made for the baby, not for the mother and for a specific purpose and for a specific period of time and then our bodies discard them so she's not one to believe that a mother should be ingesting the placenta, meant for baby, after the body has discarded it. It's also used used a filter to keep toxins out of baby and it may possibly still hold on to some of those toxins. So this turned me off from doing it. However, my neighbor did it and she loves it. I just can't bring myself to eat my own organs.

I've had friends do it and they absolutely loved it. I think it does benefit mom, but not because it holds any special nutrients, just the placebo effect- Where you believe something will be really helpful, so you take it and it ends up helping, for no other reason than you truly believed it would. Just my opinion.
