Worries about labor and our puppy dog

Ok so I know you can't normally schedule when your baby is born, but man that would put my mind at ease when it comes to taking care of our dogs needs at that time. I have like no friends in the area who can pop on over to watch our dog when I go into the hospital and the vet we board the dog at is 20 minutes in the opposite direction than the hospital too! We do have my hubbys younger brother who just moved closer to us... About 30 minutes from us... But he is working during the week till really late and I don't really trust him with the dog since he really doesn't know the dog and doesn't visit us at all unless his mother pressures him to do it... Which like never happens... I also live in an apartment so I don't want the dog crying and upsetting the neighbors... Who all have dogs but are not social with us... Frankly I don't even see them most of the time and they are like ghosts who pop in and out quickly... Any suggestions??? I tried talking with my hubby about him coming home to walk the dog while I'm in labor but he refuses to go that since he doesn't want to miss anything! At least I don't have to worry about the cat we have... Just give her lots of food and water and she's happy.
