maternity leave

Ladies, my little baby boy will be 6 weeks old tomorrow, and I will have five weeks left to spend with him before going back to work. My first day back at work is October 24th and I am having a hard time coming to terms with it. We have a spot reserved for daycare and it will be around 500 dollars a month for him to go there. I would give anything in the whole world to stay home with my sweet boy... I just don't know if we would be able to make it work without my income. Has anyone else been in this situation, and if you did decide to not go back to your day job, how did you make it work? Can you give me any tips in working towards being a SAHM?
