Long Distance Relationships?

Do you think long distance relationships work?? How can you make a long distance relationship work? Please share your experiences the good and the bad and how far away your partner was/is!

They work if you both put the time and effort in. My SO and I are over 9,000 miles apart (Australia - US) and talk every single day. As difficult as it sometimes gets, he's always there to remind me that 'distance has nothing on us.'

It's hard but if you are both invested, it will strengthen you guys. My boyfriend and I dated for about a year before I moved cities for grad school. We weren't quite ready to get married and move cities together, so I moved while he stayed to work.

Something that's helped us the last six months has been always know the next time we will see the other person. We try to stay in contact throughout the week through little things like texts and FaceTime regularly to say "goodnight" 😊

One cute and slightly geeky thing we love to do is write each other snailmail! We'll send postcards and letters to each other almost once a week. By the end of this year, I'm gonna have a heaping box of letters from him!

There is definitely a time for everything. As much as we hated the idea of long distance, we were not ready for marriage yet, and long distance was the only other option for us. So, while I wish I could be with him, I am choosing to make the best out of this year--live it fully in the moment, and not waste it wishing I was in a different place in life. Hope this helps!

I'm in Australia, my boyfriend is a South African currently living in Dubai. We've been together for 4.5 years now, long distance the whole time. It's not easy, you have to be able to communicate extremely well, trust each other entirely and want to make it work. It takes a lot of sacrifice, but it's worth it

It's only going to work for the right people. And even then, it's going to be hell on earth some days. My boyfriend have been dating for over 2 years, a little over a year being long distance. We are both in school, 9 hours apart. I wish I could say "it's totally worth it" and "it'll work out in the end", but I'm not at the end yet. Some days it doesn't feel worth it, while others I feel like we could do it 100 times over. But like everyone else said, communication is key. My boyfriend and I have fought countless times because one of us is hurt and we didn't tell the other. It's not like when you're in person and they say something and your face shows the pain. They can't see that. So, even if you don't want to admit it, sometimes you have to be the "weak one", and tell them how you're feeling. If you can communicate, long distance definitely brings you closer and makes your relationship much stronger.

Yes, they do in 3 days I'll be in a long distance relationship for a year. It gets hard at times , but I know one day I'll hold my baby and everything will be alright . I'll even drive the 13 hours to go . At the end it'll be all worth it because I love her so much 💘
