Do you believe in corporal punishment?

Question

Special circumstances ie. Like smacking a baby's hand to prevent them from touching a light socket. Or spanking a child pulling away from you in a busy parking lot.

I don't spank my kid. However, other anti-spanking parents don't do anything else. I use a corrective and firm tone. The other day a kid's baby (over 1 year old) was slapping my laptop in the middle of a timed test that I can only take ONCE. If he had restarted it, that was it. I failed. She ignored him doing it until I looked at her like "wtf?" and she, in a motherly loving voice, said "no honeyyyyyyy we don't hit! I love you!" Then kissed him repeatedly. She let him go, and he went right back to slapping my laptop

Even in the 'special circumstances ' I don't see why spanking is necessary - if you're close enough to spank the child you're close enough to remove them from the danger.

Depends on what is involved. I do not think kids should be hit with extension cords, hangers or utensils. But a spanking with open hand is definately acceptable.

But I mind my own business and I think people need to mind their own as well.

No. I'll never hit my child. It's completely unnecessary. Teach through actions and communication.

Depends I think 1 year olds shouldn't be spanked  just cause there still babies 
But I think once they get to a certain age when they kno there behavior is unacceptable then yes a little tap on the but won't hurt them there's a difference.
 I had a police officer tell me I can parent my child however I wanted to as long as it didn't leave a bruise or mark

Nope. I taught my son not to touch the stove easily before he was much over a year old, by holding his hand near the closed oven when it was on and saying "Hot!" He didn't go near the stove after that, and would warn the adults about it. When he tried to pull away from me in parking lots, I got down to his level, and said, "No, we have to hold hands. You can hold my hand or I can pick you up. Which one?" If he tried to pull away again, I picked him up and carried his limp, howling self until we got somewhere safe. It took about 5 tries before he realized I was serious, and that was it.

It's fine if you guys don't wanna hit your kids, but I don't understand why there is a new topic on spanking everyday...

I don't think it should ever happen because you're angry.. I think a baby can be redirected, since a light socket isn't too fun or exciting. If my child was pulling away from me in a parking lot however, and I was afraid for their safety, then it may be warranted.
