1 month old Gerber multi grain cereal????

Question

Did you give your month old baby multigrain cereal mixed with formula? ( i haven't....but wanted to but needed to see if others did and babies turned out fine.)

Reason I'm considering it is because my cousin said she gave her son cereal for babies as soon as he left hospital. She said it keeps him full and he could sleep throughout the night.

No no no. They could choke. I only ever put cereal in my baby's bottle AFTER the pediatrician told me to. That was because both my kids would throw up after they ate. (Turns out they were on the wrong formula.) Babies shouldn't have cereal until they can hold their head up and sit assisted. Around 4 months.

Babies aren't meant to sleep through the night and feel full for long periods of time. Some do it naturally, but to add cereal, which has no nutritional value, can cause problems. Of course there will always be people who did it and their kids turned out fine. Some babies do need the cereal for reflux, but if that's not the case, I wouldn't do it. But do some research about it and the virgin gut and make your decision.

Babies under 6 months stomaches cannot digest cereal properly. It's not a good idea. I know we want them to sleep all night because we are so tired but they are simply not suppose to, they are suppose to wake to eat

Added a tiny bit of rice cereal to my sons bottle at 3 months old because of throwing up. Wouldn't before then!

No, that's really outdated advice. Babies have an "open gut" system until 6 months, so they should only be given milk until then Unless advised by pediatrician for issues such as reflux.
