Changing his mind?

I have a new boyfriend. We've only been seeing each other for a couple of months, but when we were on our first date, he said that he never wants to have kids. I was really disappointed, but I decided to keep seeing him, since I just have this FEELING that he is the one.. Tonight in bed, he said that he "isn't ready for kids..". Does that sound like he could be changing his mind a bit?

Whether he's changing his mind or not, this is too big a thing to not be communicating about or on the same page.

Frankly, I would openly ask him to clarify because of the discrepancy.

I wouldn't risk falling in love with someone if I were hellbent on something they don't want.

I've seen relationships & marriages end over this issue. You need to have an understanding of: a) if he truly wants children ever & how many, b) what his ideal timeline is for having kids & why, & c) does he understand that women have a fertile window that generally doesn't extend into their 50's- how old does he want to be when his kids graduate high school or college? These are important questions to answer before you commit to a lasting relationship if you desire children yourself. It's a heavy convo at times, but oh so necessary.

No, don't give him time. The worst relationships (in my opinions) are the ones where, guys feel like they have to change their mind just to please the women. I know a couple, the guy didn't want to get married, the women did. She pretty much gave him the ultimatum of either marriage or she'd leave. Where I do understand her feelings, but it's not fair to give someone an ultimatum like that. If you want to leave fine, but don't make the guy feel like he has to marry you or have kids with you. Guess who got engaged two days later ? I just feel like that relationship is doomed. Same goes for wanting kids. You may think he'll change his mind, but if he doesn't ? Are you going to be ok noting having kids ? Or are you going to break you're own heart & his by leaving ? You need to really think about whAts more important to you.

I wasted nearly 7 years with a guy who kept 'changing' his mind. I'm thankful now it never happened because I'm now married to my awesome husband but just be careful not to hang out for something that may never happen with him.

When I was younger I never ever ever ever wanted kids. Now at 25 I have two. Things change :) give him time!

If that's what u want, then there needs to be compromising, that's what relationships are about, he makes u happy, u make him happy, u guys have to make your own dream together :)
