Self settling

Our 10 week old boy is an absolute star and loves his cuddles but cannot self settle once we pop him into the Moses basket we can cuddle him to sleep put him in and sometimes he sleeps on but other times he is awake and literally won't go back over to sleep.  I don't want to wish away the cuddly times as I love them and love may they last but just wondering on tips how to encourage him to self settle once he gets a bit older?
