5 hour labor, 17 minutes of pushing (:
Everyone else was giving their birth stories, so I figured I would share mine (:
Yesterday I went with my mom to do our last baby shopping before baby came. My due date was 9/30 but I was scheduled to be induced on 9/25 so we wanted to make sure we had every final item before then. We went to the mall and walked around baby stores. My mom telling me the whole time that she was going to "walk this baby out of me."
6:30pm rolls around and we head to the bowling alley because my parents bowl in tournaments. By 10:30pm still no sign that baby was coming so my mom dropped me off at home where I waited up for my husband.
My husband gets home around midnight and we sat up talking for an hour and fooled around. No big deal.
I woke up this morning around 8am and went into the bathroom to pee. I went back to bed and after a few minutes and almost being asleep I felt a pop in my belly. Not even thinking anything of it I went back to sleep. We both got up around 9am and I had to run to the bathroom because I thought I was just having discharge and didn't want to get my undies dirty already. But it was different this time. I sat down and it was a slight gush of water. Just thinking that maybe I just really had to pee I finished and walked back out of the bathroom. Then I felt like I was leaking. So I ran and sat back on the toilet and of course my undies were soaked. I felt constant trickles as I was sitting there and that's when I knew my water had broke. We called my doctor who happened to be delivering someone else today and she told us to come down to the hospital.
We get to the hospital around 11:30 and she checked and said it was really obvious that my water was broke and I was 3cm dilated. We get moved into a new room and after about an hour she checked me again. I hadn't dilated any further so she put me on pitocin. From there my contractions were so strong and painful that I was crying. I was 4 cm when they checked me again around 2pm and the nurse have me some medication to help with the pain. By 3:30pm the pain wasn't any better and my mom was telling me if I feel like I have to push to let her know. 4pm and a contraction hit and I told her I felt like I needed to push. She ran out and got a nurse, they checked me and I was 9cm and they got my doctor. 17 minutes later I gave birth to my son.
