birth story!
On September 9th I went in for my weekly check up at 39 weeks and did the pee strip sample which came back normal and then they took my bp and noticed it was 151/99! My midwife was worried and said we will take it again in a half an hour. So when we took it again it went to 145/92 so she was still concerned. She called one of the doctors at the hospital and they said to come in right away to be induced. So as worried as I am I rush to the hospital and was told I was going to have cervidill (not sure how it's spelled!) which is a strip they place on your cervix to thin it out which is recommended for first time moms. Once they apply it, it stays on for 12 hours. So, they put it on around 10pm and gave me a sleeping pill to help me sleep. I was starting to get little pains and with the excitement of meeting my baby I couldn't sleep! So by time 8am came around, I got checked and I was finally up to 3-4cm. And that's when the pain started. Checking my cervix must of irritated it so I got massive contractions and the pain was so bad I didn't want to be touched or looked at so I'm in my room all alone doing lunges, squats, fanning myself with the room service papers 😅 literally the pain was unbearable as in my hips were being ripped apart and then ran over by a train. I mostly just had pain in lower back, hips, and upper thigh. I had to keep moving around, laying down was not an option being in that much pain. So the only problem was I couldn't get an epidural until the 12 hours of the cervidill was finished so I had to wait till 10am to take it out and be able to get my epidural. So I'm leaning on the counter watching the clock on the computer and the contraction tracker and started noticing my contractions were 2 minutes apart. So once 10am hit I called my nurse and was like I need an epidural now! So finally they came in and checked me and I got the cervidill removed and was at 5cm. Got the epidural which when your in that much pain from contractions, the epidural is nothing compared to it! Once I got the epidural I passed out sleeping and woke up around 12 to a pop and a gush of water. I was like oh no I peed myself! Not having any feeling from my stomach down I didn't know what it could be. So I called my nurse and she was like yup your water broke! So she checked me and I reached 9cm! I waited about an hour until my midwife showed up and around 2 she asked me if I was ready to start pushing and I'm like yeah let's go for it! I loved having a midwife because it was only a nurse, my midwife, and my mom and sister in the room when I was pushing and I had the lights real dimmed and they held my legs up for me even. So I did three rounds of pushing and 45 minutes later at 2:50pm she was out! They place the baby right on you and that gives you time to take in the wonderful moment of finally meeting your little gift. I got a phase 2 tear so I spent an hour getting stitches. After that the baby gets her shots and cleaned up and then they're all yours! I can say it's the most beautiful, emotional experience ever. Just warning any first time moms that the stay in the hospital sucks! My opinion is I hated it lol nurses coming in to bother you every hour and staying there for 3 nights really gave me anxiety of just wanting to get home 😔 I'm just so blessed to have a healthy beautiful 6 pound 9 ounce 18.3 inch long baby girl!
