So I came across a post from a user in a similar situation to mine, I was reading the comments and I wanted to expand a bit on what some of the people were saying. Basically, I want more opinions!

So, my situation is this: This is my second pregnancy. The first ended at 26 weeks, when my twins were taken via emergency c-section; This was 3 short days after my wedding! We had planned on hosting a baby shower in June (because I was due in July), but I gave birth in April! So no baby shower for me! I got to take one of my two babies home after 67 days in NICU, my angel baby girl didn't make it. Baby boy came home at only 4 lbs and still on oxygen, so we didn't have any type of shower or coming home party. We bought everything ourselves, but only the stuff we absolutely needed or could use. Not much. My baby was too small for average baby items like a crib, bouncer, a swing, high chair, stroller--even a tummy-time mat or play gym was too "stimulating" for my little preemie.

Basically, we never got any of those typical baby shower gifts, or any gifts at all! Or any party...or even a congratulations. Everything changes with a preemie. We never got a baby shower, or to really even celebrate or be happy about our baby...everything was scary, sad, and hectic. Its not so much about the gifts as it is finally being able to enjoy and celebrate bringing home a new baby. Nobody was happy for us! Not even us!

So we are hosting a baby shower ourselves, even though we are having another boy. This is where your opinion comes in, because apparently people have mixed feelings about this.

Am I wrong for hosting a baby shower for a second boy? Or a second baby in general?

Is it tacky that my husband and I plan to host our own party? My best friends are helping, but essentially, we are hosting. Thoughts?

Should showers only be for first time parents?
