What were your first signs of labor?

How did you know you were about to go into labor? How did you feel, and how far along were you ? 
I'm clueless and want to be prepared !

With my first i had an uncomfortable achey back went and had a shower then when I went to sit down for dinner I couldn't that was at 38w and 6days had baby 12 hours later 
With my 2nd I noticed small like braxtion hicks but more intense and had baby 6 hours later I was 40w and 5days

I was 40+4 weeks. I was laying in bed and had a horrible period like cramp, then had another one about 5 minutes later. Had my son the next morning.

With me I had been cleaning a lot the day I went into labor and I showered and sat down to relax while my husband was showering after work. I sat down in a recliner and I heard two little pops in my belly. I text my sister that I thought I heard my water break and sure enough I stops up and my water came gushing out! I wasn't more achey or anything out of the normal before hand though.
