Should teachers be allowed to punish students for acting up?

My sister is a 2nd grade teacher and for her county she can not punish her students. No taking recess away, no silent lunches, no keeping one student out of a fun activity. All she can do is send a letter home and let the parents take care of it. In her county most parents are the don't punish/talk about feelings type of parents. So her classes are crazy and she can't do anything about it. She's wanting to leave teaching because of being under paid and dealing with children she has no control over. I personally can't believe it, if my kids is acting crazy please take his/her recess away. I couldn't imagine dealing with 24 kids by myself and not being able to punish them for acting up.

I tell my sons teachers treat him how you treat your children. If you wouldn't let your children do things don't let him. My son is a manipulator and don't nobody got time for his mess. I have told his teachers "you do not get paid to be dealing with no bad kid" I expected etc then to be stern on him and not taken no mess from him. He knows that if I have to come to that school I'm checking him out and tapping his butt and checking him back in. (If you don't spank your child that's fine don't come with no thesis statement on my comment about what I shouldn't do with my kid, I pushed him out of my vagina , I spend a great deal of money on him. I'm his mother FIRST not his friend) I rarely get phone calls home from his teachers. He rarely gets in trouble. Every now and then he tries the system but it's very seldom. If I was your sister I'd have packed my shit and went to teach elsewhere. I can't stand no unruly child and especially the ones who know they can do it without no repercussions.

When I see the word punish i automatically assume spanking and things like that - which no, no person should ever punish my child in that way other than me. BUT I believe taking away recess and silent lunches and things such as that should be allowed

That's what made act right in elementary not going on field trips not decorating cookies for Valentine's Day not watching movies and drinking hot chocolate during Christmas time 😩😩😩 I was an ANGEL !!! those kids gone get away with murder soon 😏

As a teacher, I would not work in that district. As soon as the power is taken out of the teachers hands like that, she loses all control over her classroom. I am in no way mean to my kids and rarely ever have to punish them because of the way I treat them but to take that power from a teacher is like telling the kids they can do whatever they want. Prime example, we had a parent night this week and I was telling a parent that the student is not listening when told directions and then does not do her work because she doesn't know what to do. The parent started fussing at the child and telling her that she didn't act like that before when the teachers could paddle and gave me permission to paddle. Was the child acting in any sort of behavior that warranted a paddle? Not really. I was trying to talk to the parent before it got to that point. The parent recognized that by taking that power away from the teacher it essentially told the child she could do what she wanted.
