Open Relationships

Hey y'all. I'm simply musing here but have any of you experienced an open relationship or are you in one now? What has that been like for you?

I'm in an open relationship coming up on two years in new years. Before this relationship I have only been in long term monogamous relationships. I was incredibly judgemental of the idea of being in an open relationship but have found the one I'm in to be incredibly wonderful. For us open means always being ourselves: at our best and our worst. It means checking out men and women together. It means we can date, flirt and yes have sex with others without negative consequences. However this only happens if we are open and honest with one another...otherwise it's simply cheating. Honestly this is the healthiest relationship I have ever been in. I love my boyfriend so much and trust him sincerely. Another boundary we have is that we don't bring anyone home. Any dates or otherwise happen outside the home space. We liken each other to our "home base" or "primary" relationship. While I am very happy with this arrangement I'm curious about other folks experiences.
