Why do some moms that birthed "naturally" try to shame those who didn't

In my opinion giving birth is hard and every mom deserves a pat on the back for going through it. Whether it was a c section or vaginally. Whether you had an epidural or other medications or not.  I just have gotten a lot of crap from people when I tell them I got an epidural. One mom said "Oh I bet you had an easy labor then huh?" I just laughed it off but I felt like saying "Uh no bitch. The contractions hurt like hell and I went to 5 cm without any epidural." But I'm just not not the type of person to say something like that out loud lol.

Edit: yes Katey I know not all "natural" birth moms try to shame others. It's completely fine to be proud of it but it's another thing when you're rude towards those of us who wanted to be medicated during labor

Frieda: Lovely comment however birthing natural doesn't always come with no tearing. My mother got 2nd degree tears when she had my brother and it was a natural birth. Also I had no tears with an epidural.

Everything about child birth and parenting is open for judgement. Giving birth is giving birth whether it is natural, medicated or cesarean. Feeding your baby is feeding your baby whether it's breast, bottle, or formula. Everyone is obviously entitled to their opinion but anyone who looks down on someone for those types of reasons or choices obviously has some issues they're  dealing with if they get off judging other people. I pity them. You do you boo lol

I plan to go natural. What bothers me is nowadays most people have shamed me for wanting that. It's just life. In one ear and out the other I always say. Literally every person has told me I won't do it, or that I'll want the epidural.

What matters is that the baby is healthy and mom is healthy. How it happens doesn't matter.

I had a natural birth "accidentally" because it happened so fast and even as I was getting ready to push all I could say was "what about the epidural?!" because that was my plan and I was scared to death of the pain. Now that I can say I had a completely natural delivery I can also say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I was very lucky and only labored for 2 hours and pushed for 30 minutes. I did tear still and getting up and moving around after was still hard because I was shaking non-stop. With that being said, I cannot imagine going through it naturally for hours and hours like some women do (with or without meds). No one really knows how delivery is going to go and I think after growing that baby for 9 months that every mother deserves a little pain relief without the opinion of anyone else if thats what they chose.

I did it all natural and would never shame a woman for getting an epidural but I do feel like it is an amazing accomplishment to go through such an intense experience without any drugs and I'm super proud of myself! I do think it is completely different, I read some birth stories of women getting the epidural and taking a nap like excuse me?! Lol I wish

I wanted to go natural because I didn't want the healing Associated with a c section- don't know how you mommas heal and take care of baby! With that said, I got to 6cm and stopped dilating while contractions continued so I eventually caved to pitocin and eventually an epidural because without I knew a c section was in my future. When people talk about birth plans, I know we all have some vision in our heads and trust me I felt like I had failed when I had to take the drugs, but my husband reminded me the only real birth plan is to give birth to a healthy baby. And I accomplished that- what more could I honestly want? Doesn't matter how she got here- she's here!

I've had 3 natural deliveries bc it was what I wanted. Any birth should be commended, I mean you brought a life into the world. I've also had people say rude things to me bc I chose to have my babes natural, so I think it's just rude people being rude. It sure gets annoying though. Also, I've torn for all of my deliveries as well, so natural doesn't mean no tears.

For medical reasons I have to have c sections I've only been able to deliver vaginally once and that was with my oldest. My second son I had placenta  abrupture at 29 weeks and had to have an emergency surgery to save both our lives. With my 3rd I had placenta previa and again had to have an early c section. I'm going to be having my 5th c section in May and I'm very envious of those who can deliver vaginally. Growing a human in your body is a very powerful thing that only women can do. So for any WOMAN to knock another woman for birthing a child weather it be natural or via c section is ignorant and uncalled for. Women like this really piss me off. You went all natural??? Would you like a cookie? Lol
