Do you look down on divorced people?

I fear that I might be headed that direction and I want to know ahead of time.. Divorce because the marriage wasn't working, not because of abuse or cheating.

I look down on people who stay married and not happy!!!!

I know more divorced couples than ones who are still together 😂 it's brave to end something that isn't going anywhere.

No...but if you're jumping into another serious relationship or marriage shortly after you've divorced, then I do judge you a little bit....sorry...

I actually give divorced people a lot of credit and would never look down on them.  It takes 2 people to make a marriage work and some people can't hold up their end.

I'm with someone who got a divorce. If it's really not working, the love is lost for good, your constantly being cheated on, abused ect...then you should divorce. I don't think anyone should stay in anything and be miserable.

I was divorced YOUNG, right after I turned 20. Nobody said a word only that they were happy I left him. My current husband actually helped me through it. We've been married since shortly after that, nobody has judged me.

No way. You gotta do what you gotta do. If you're not happy and you can't work things out, then why should you compromise your happiness? I'd probably judge you more if you were both unhappy but just stayed together

I got divorced 6 years ago to my 1st husband.  He was both abusive and cheating, but I come from a Catholic family who doesn't believe in divorce, even though they wouldn't even let my ex in their homes.  I was supposed to stick it out.

I got remarried and everything is great.  No one really cares, except my family.  I don't talk to them much though.

My parents and two of my sister's are divorced. I don't look down on them. Hell I'm proud of them for figuring out they were better off not being in those relationships. Not all marriages work and people should be strong enough to get out of unhealthy relationships.

Nope. I divorced because he was a lying, cheating, abusive asshat. My fiancé divorced through no choice of his own. His ex pressured him into having a baby. Once she had the child she packed up and skipped states under the guise that she was visiting family and she'd be back. He believed her. She held him off long enough to establish residency and slapped him with divorce papers. He had no idea it was even coming. We've known each other since we were 14 and since my divorce happened first, he really wanted to just talk to someone who knew and understood. So that's what we did. For months we just talked about divorce and life and caught up on family. Very slowly it turned into a relationship and now we're engaged. Not to mention my parents got divorced shortly after I moved back home. That's an even longer story. My dad's mother divorced his father when he was a year old because he was abusive. I never even knew about the man until he passed away when I was 18. I know his first name and that he was abusive. That's all the information I have about my blood grandpa. My aunt and uncle divorced when I was probably 15. She's not blood but she's been more family than my uncle has. So we're still heavily in touch with her and the kids. I see them quite often. So no. I don't look down on people who are divorced. I honestly never thought I would be. I stayed through lying and cheating because that can be fixed. I stayed through a year of progressive physical abuse and hid it from the world. Because I was married and we said no divorce ever. He's the one who wanted it. Then drug me through a year long process because he flip flopped on whether he actually wanted to or not. I was so set on staying married that I dealt with physical abuse for a year. Now that its been done and over for 3 years, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. If I had stayed I'd have ended up in the hospital or worse. So if anyone wants to look down on me for being divorced, let them.
