stretch marks? genetic or preventable?

What is everyone using to attempt to prevent stretch marks? Or is everyone of the opinion that it's genetic??

I used bio oil for my tummy. Started using it just as soon as my belly started to grow. Didn't get a single stretch mark. Picture here was at full term and then a year on. Will definately use it next time. Xx

They're genetic and hormone related, but you never know you may get lucky! It's believed that whatever your mom experienced is what you will. My mom only got mild stretch marks on her boobs that went away a couple months after birth and so far that's the only place I have a few little ones! Hoping it stays that way. To be safe I use Palmer's Stretch Mark cream before bed lol

Everything I've read has said they are genetic. I'm 18 weeks today and so far don't have any. My mom doesn't have any. My sister only has them on her legs/butt. I already have some on my legs/butt from gaining weight. But nothing more and nothing on my stomach. I haven't been doing anything to prevent them either.

I believe it is genetic. My mom had them and with this pregnancy I have put on my coca butter and oil every day and still got them 😑

Genetic made it 7 months without a single stretch mark did everything I could to try and prevent them but 7 months and 2 days first one showed up I l broke into tears
