PCOS Confused

So I am a bit confused. I had an internal ultrasound done & my doctor told me I have polycystic ovaries (little cysts all around my ovaries). I also have irregular periods. He told me I could start BC which would make the cysts go away. Or if trying to conceive I could start a fertility drug. Anyway, I obviously went home to research & apparently it means I have PCOS? However, I do not have any of the other PCOS symptoms. Not overweight, never have been. No excessive hair, or losing hair or acne. (Just to name a few).  So I'm confused. Since I have polycystic ovaries does that automatically mean I have PCOS or not?!
