how far along?

Hi, without sounding stupid how do you know how many weeks you are? I know they add two weeks on from date of conception, however my cycles were shorter, 23 days and I ovulated on CD 9 with an LH of 14 days. I ovulated exactly 4 weeks ago today and I know most people would add 14 days, do I only add 9? I'm so confused lol

The day you ovulate you are considered 2 weeks pregnant so go to cycle day 9 and call that 2 weeks and then count forward from there.
The doc will found from day 1 of your last period but if you have an early dating scan baby should measure accordingly based on when you ovulated (keep in mind the margin of error is +/- 3-5 days any way)

Generally you go by your last period, if you are regular, although the date of conception could be anytime within first week of the two week wait. They say that you add two weeks to the digital test if it says 3+ and that's accurate but IDK.
 I am irregular, so I don't go by my cycle.  My cycles are anywhere from 36 to 90 days long. I took a digital test when I first suspected and got the same answer; I went in for my ultrasound and I was 8 weeks!!!

Google it. They have week/due date calculators that take the length of your cycle into account. That should help a little. As for certainty, you'll have to have a sonogram. Good luck and congrats! (Appears you're at LEAST 5-6 weeks.) 😁👍🏼
