Cervix check?

Why does it hurt when they check to see if your dilating ? Im scared for them to check since I been seeing a lot of post saying it hurts a lot!!!! And how do they check it???

I'm 1 cm and that wasn't bad. For my son when I was 8 cm that hurt so bad. They had their whole hand in there and my cervix or something is "shaped weird" so it seemed like it took forever.

It didn't hurt for me, and I have had three membrane sweeps that didn't hurt also. If anything the sweeps were just uncomfortable. But the checks are like 10 seconds. Not long at all... may depend on doctors. I have a male doctor and he is quick and gentle? Cause it really didn't hurt at all.

Deffinately hurt for me. I had one doctor do it last week, super painful, and my regular doctor did it this week. Last week was way worse than this week, that doctor was a bit rough. This week my doctor did the check then did the sweep, which was awful. He was only able to complete like 80% of it cause it was just too painful for me. But his check was much less painful than last week's doctor (up until the sweep), so I think it matters who is completing it as well.

Probably depends on the doctor. I had a nurse check me because i was being scheduled for induction, she did a sweep at the same time. I didn't feel a thing.

It's uncomfortable but not to bad and depends on who checks it some people are more rough

They feel your cervix with their fingers... if you are dilated they will stick a finger or more into the cervix...
