advice on a puppy PittBull????

How do you train a puppy pittbull?? I smack him on the nose and he thinks it's a game. I use a rolled up newspaper but he isn't too scared of that no more. He's 3,4 months old. He's a boy and extremely hyper and thrives for attention. Maybe getting him fixed will help?? Our baby girl is due 2/7/17. Our pittbull jumped up and bit my husband on his nose and drawn blood to his nose last night.... I'm scared. I wanna keep him but he's sooooo HYPER. Please help!!!!!

Try giving your pup lots of reward (tasty snacks and lots of loving) for good behaviors and give absolutely no attention for bad behaviors. This method worked wonders for my pup when he was young! Also, walk walk walk walk! A tired pup is usually a good pup!

Reward good behavior! Positive reinforcement is a great tool.

If the puppy bites/nips/jumps immediately stop playing with them and ignore them. When they calm down and give you the behavior you want, give them lots of love and positive talk. It takes time and patience!

When we do "negative" reinforcement, we shake a bottle of pennies at the dog and say no. Then when they give the behavior we want we reward them.

Getting him fixed will definitely help. And it has a lot of other benefits too. Try to make sure he gets exercise- I have two pit mixes and they are crazy if they don't get some exercise in!

Pit bulls are very hyper puppy's. Usually up through the first few years. Positive reinforcement is key. You hit him & he thinks you're playing with him. Teach him to understand no means no. When he does something he isn't supposed to tell him no & put him in "time out" lol we put ours in their cages when they misbehave & bring them back out when theyve calmed down. They're great dogs but be patient with him.

Luckily there is a big difference between a hyper puppy, and a dog that is going to have aggression issues.

Puppy training is a great idea. It will help with those basic commands and getting him to listen to you. Yak tonyour vet about if getting him fixed will help. I have two female dogs and I don't recall there being a big difference in puppy behavior after they were fixed.

Energy is going to be manageable especially if you have a fenced yard, or somewhere for him to run and play. I joking call these energy bursts the 'puppy crazies', which they do outgrow after a year or two.

The best advice I have is tons of excerise and training. He's an adorable little pup and I'm sure he and your baby will grow to be the best of friends.

You should crate train him. Or send him to classes. But he is GOING to be hyper because he is a baby. To get rid of some of his extra energy take him on long walks. Fetch a ball. Play with other dogs.

PetSmart has amazing puppy training classes. Sounds like you're puppy is just that a puppy and they have a ton of energy! You need to be walking him MINIMALLY 45 min 2-3x/day in addition, invest in smart toys like kongs. Crate train throughout the day never use the crate as punishment. Good luck but you have to be prepared to walk this boy! And remember, a good dog is a tired dog! I have several years of raising and training German shepherds, very similar energy levels.

Be stern, sounds stupid but the change in voice is how they know bad from good. Smack his butt if need be. My puppy bit me, I bit her back and she never did it again. If he makes it a game say NO really loud and ignore him.

Pit bulls are actually good dogs, just have to train them properly! Yes be stern, maybe a flick on the nose or smack on the butt, they can be hardheaded lol I have two myself and they turned out well.
