cervix check?

When did your doctor start checking your cervix for dilation and effacement? I know every doctors office is different I'm just curious :)

36 weeks and they gave me the option to choose at 37 weeks. Tomorrow is my 38 week so we will see if they offer again or if they just check.

You don't have to be checked.   You can be dilated for weeks before going into labor,  with my last son I was huge (he was 9lb14oz at birth) and miserable,  so I made the mistake of asking to be checked.   It was 3 weeks at 3 then 4 cm.... For 3 weeks.   I think it's better to just go with the flow and not stress out over how dilated you are because it really isn't any indication of when you will go into labor.

I think it depends more on your pregnancy. If you start or are having false contractions than they start checking. I've had a friend that they started to check at 30 weeks and a friend who was never checked until she was 2 days past her due date. I had an appointment Tuesday and my dr said that he just bases it off how I'm feeling ( unusual cramping contractions, pressure down there & etc)
